Over the next three weeks, they would reach out to over 440 people in small local businesses&#8212;barber shops, cafes, hardware stores, book stores, florists, bars, convenience stores, restaurants, bike shops, you name it&#8212;in North Cambridge, Leslie and Porter Square, Harvard Square and Church Street, Mount Auburn and Brattle Street, Dana Hill, Bow Street, Central Square, Lafayette, Concord Ave, Huron, East Cambridge, and Broadway.</p><p>In 90+ degree heat, over previously unfamiliar terrain, and sometimes through rain storms, the teams of interns  met with over 190 business owners and discussed energy efficiency opportunities&#8212;programs and incentives from&#8230; <a

These reductions are expected be reached through $1.6 billion worth of incentives for utility customers who conserve energy. A significant increase in yearly spending on consumer outreach and incentive programs for conservation is also expected, quadrupling the amount of money designated for these purposes from $150 to $600 million per year.</p><p>Consumer fees and pollution allowance auctioning via the <a

href="http://www.commonwealthsolar.org/">Commonwealth Solar Program</a> provides rebates through a non-competitive application process for the installation of photovoltaic (PV) projects. The <a
href="http://www.commonwealthsolar.org/">Commonwealth Solar II Rebate Program</a> provides rebates for commercial systems up to 5 kilowatts (kW) and all residential systems (regardless of size). The <a
href="http://www.commonwealthsolar.org/">Commonwealth Solar Stimulus Rebate Program</a> provides rebates for commercial PV systems sized greater than 5 kW up to 200 kW.</p><p>The Commonwealth Solar program issued awards for the installation of 23.5 megawatts (MW) of solar power over the last two years, <a
